As incidents of harassment appear to be increasing around the globe, throughout America and right here in Central Indiana, CTS staff reached out to Indianapolis Metropolitan Police Department North District Commander Chris Bailey for his thoughts on how an individual should respond when experiencing or witnessing an act of harassment.

In his response, Commander Bailey stated, “Harassing and intimidating behavior toward someone with differing views is unacceptable in a free and civilized society. It could also be illegal. We encourage people who have been subject to such behavior to report it immediately to police. Respect sees no color, gender, religion, sexual orientation, or ethnic background – treat others as you want to be treated and we will all live fear-free and happy.”

Commander Bailey’s colleague Officer Lindsey Terry encourages anyone who has concerns or questions regarding harassment to contact her at 317-327-5999 or Lindsey.terry@indy.gov.
