Part-time position.  Approximately 15 hours per week

Job Summary

The Director of Outreach Ministries provides faithful, energetic, creative, visionary and strategic leadership and administrative oversight of ministries that reflects FCC’s vision:  We exist to share the inclusive love of Christ through welcoming learning, serving, and offering spiritual connection.  The Director of Outreach Ministries works hands-on with the Welcome Table Breakfast and other Outreach ministries and offers guidance and support to the Outreach Commission.

Responsibilities:

• Provide oversight and administrative support for our Outreach Commission who:
  • Assess and prioritize new mission opportunities as they arise and educate the congregation about these opportunities—helping congregants make connections between our faith and wider community involvement, discern and feel encouraged as they feel called to pursue or create particular service ministries.

• Seek appropriate funding through grant sources
• Participate in staff and various committee meetings; participate in Board meetings and/or submit a monthly report
• Welcome Table Breakfast:
  • Recruit and schedule volunteers
  • Keep track of food needs; order, pick up, and put away groceries
  • Submit expenses to Treasurer and keep track of budget concerns
  • Connect with guests and volunteers at the breakfast weekly
• Bloomington Severe Weather Emergency Shelter (BSWERS)
  • Meet with Lead Team regularly.

• • Monitor Supplies in cooperation with FCC lay representative
  • Ensure building is available when needed and schedule on church calendar
  • Help oversee use of funds designated for BSWERS
  • Liaison with property and FCC staff about any issues with shelter in the building

• Understanding and respect for the Christian Church (Disciples of Christ)
• Excellent communication, leadership, people skills, administrative abilities, and the ability to work as part of a team.
• Problem-solving skills, ability to handle constructively stress and pressure
• Committed self-starter attitude, ability to continually define and refine FCC’s role in the areas of Outreach, Service, and Community Engagement

• Demonstrated experience in the areas of community outreach

Salary - $16,000/year

PTO -  Three paid weeks of vacation, including three Sundays (eligible after 6 months of employment)
