DIRECTOR OF FAITH FORMATION

Part-time position. Approximately 15 hours per week
Job Summary
The Director of Faith Formation provides faithful, energetic, creative, visionary and strategic leadership and administrative oversight of ministries that reflects FCC’s vision: We exist to share the inclusive love of Christ through welcoming learning, serving, and offering spiritual connection. The Director of Faith Formation works hands-on with the church’s children’s and youth and oversees all Faith Formation ministries, offering guidance and support to the Faith Formation commission.
The goal of faith formation at FCC is to provide a safe and welcoming environment for each person to 1) grow in the knowledge and love of God and neighbor, and 2) to experience the unconditional love of Christ.
Responsibilities:
- Provide oversight and administrative support for our Faith Formation Commission who:
- Oversee recruitment/training of teachers and other volunteers.
- Order and/or develop curriculum and other materials
- Communicate effectively with volunteers and the congregation.
- Participate in staff and various committee meetings; participate in Board meetings and/or submit monthly report
- Weekly on Sunday mornings:
- Attend to any needed set-up in children’s worship room
- Participate with congregation in the 10:00 a.m. service
- Serve as teacher/assistant in children’s worship as needed
- Be available to resource nursery attendant and oversee the reporting of their hours
- Weekly on Sunday evenings:
- Participate with congregation in the 5:00 p.m. Upper Room service, utilizing this time to connect with youth and their families
- Youth Group
- Once per month, lead a youth group meeting following the Sunday evening service
- Once per month, plan and execute one additional youth gathering or activity
- Seasonal/special events for families, children, and youth
- In coordination with the Faith Formation Commission, plan and execute special activities such as the Advent activities, Lenten activities, Easter egg hunt, etc.
Knowledge, Skills and Behaviors
- A passion for the church, a strong Christian faith, and a deep desire to encourage others on a lifelong faith journey and share the Good News of Jesus
- Understanding and respect for the Christian Church (Disciples of Christ)
- Excellent communication, leadership, people skills, administrative abilities, and the ability to work as part of a team.
Salary - $16,000/year
PTO - Three paid weeks of vacation, including three Sundays (eligible after 6 months of employment
