Christian Theological Seminary is pleased to announce that the University Senate of the United Methodist Church has renewed the status of CTS as an educational institution approved “for the preparation of candidates for ordination in The United Methodist Church.” Schools that are not officially part of the UMC must uphold certain guidelines and standards in order to be included on the denomination’s list of approved schools of theology.

Over the course of its rich ecumenical history, CTS has helped train and prepare for ministry numerous candidates for ordination in the UMC. The UMC has been and continues to be represented by a sizable percentage of CTS’s student body. This continued approval by the UMC’s University Senate is an indication of the school’s commitment to maintaining its relationship and standing with the denomination for the education of current and future students.
