As the 2016-17 academic year concludes and a new class of seminarians prepares to matriculate, Christian Theological Seminary (CTS) is commencing a search for a new faculty position. The Indianapolis-based ecumenical Seminary with ties to the Christian Church (Disciples of Christ) is seeking a faculty member in biblical interpretation. The full-time position will be tenure-track or tenured with faculty rank open to negotiation.

The faculty search coincides with a dynamic season of change for theological education and Christian Theological Seminary. As the profile of seminary students in the U.S. has evolved to reflect a more diverse and mature student demographic, Christian Theological Seminary continues to introduce new programs that complement changes in the theological education landscape. In January 2017, CTS welcomed its inaugural PhD cohort for its African American Preaching and Sacred Rhetoric doctorate degree. Other new additions to the curriculum include redesigned MDiv and DMin degrees structured to meet the needs of professionals.

“CTS is seeking a new faculty member who possesses an innovative, nimble teaching style adaptive to a variety of educator strategies, course formats, and delivery systems,” said Leah Gunning Francis, Vice President of Academic Affairs and Dean of the Faculty at CTS. “We are a progressive institution prepared to lead students in an era of unprecedented change within and outside the church,” Gunning Francis stated.

Additional information about the position is available here. Application review will begin by June 1, 2017.
