Century of Crossroads – Rev. William “Willy” Almodovar R Rodriguez (MDiv ‘12)

Story Date: 03/31/2022

Rev. William "Willy" Almodovar R Rodriguez (MDiv ‘12) HeadshotMy bachelor’s degree was in social studies and history education from the University of Puerto Rico. I met a staff member in Florida. She had met my wife the night before and given her all the documents for CTS. We prayed that night, and I said, ‘This is from God.’ My Christmas gift in December 2008 was receiving a letter that I was admitted, and the rest is history. I arrived at CTS in January 2009. I had the opportunity to meet new people and hear stories from different people, and it was very formative for me. I took a class with Mary Mulligan on how to do social ministry from church. She invited us to go undercover into the community, and I went to a program that feeds homeless people. It was a rich experience. Sitting down at a table with people in need made me feel like I was in need of their company, hearing their stories, and being a part of their lives. When we graduated, I say we because my family was part of the process, I had a call right away, which doesn’t normally happen. That was another confirmation that God had been with us all through this journey.

This alumni story is from CTS’ Oral History Project, A Century of Crossroads, which captured the stories and memories of our alumni from our first 100 years in printed and digital formats.
