After more than a year of adapting so much of its classes and community life to the constraints of the COVID-19 pandemic, CTS is preparing for the start of its 2021-2022 academic year and the opportunity to resume some of its familiar on-campus activities. The seminary is diligently implementing safety protocols to meet the needs of its faculty, staff, and students.

As in years past, CTS’s 2021 fall semester will begin in August. The first fall intensive course of the year will begin on August 9, new student orientation will take place on Wednesday, August 11, and the 14-week semester will begin the week of August 23. Looking ahead to orientation and the start of classes, Rev. Ayanna Garrett, Associate Dean of Student Life, said, “The beginning of a new academic year is an exciting time, and I look forward to supporting and continuing to build community with the CTS students both in person and online.”

CTS will honor the start of the academic year with its annual convocation chapel service on Wednesday, August 25. President David Mellott will preside over the special service, which will take place in Sweeney Chapel and include a blessing of the building and the new hallway installations. After the service, a lunch will be provided. Starting on the 25th, weekly in-person chapel services will be offered on Wednesdays at 11:30am in Sweeney Chapel and streamed online. All are welcome!

Coinciding with the start of the new academic year, CTS has implemented a renewed logo for the seminary. The renewed logo recognizes and honors CTS’s past and preserves the familiar multi-colored orb with a cross in its center. However, the order of the colors around the cross have shifted, as if the orb has moved, marking an evolution in the institution and a time of renewed identity. Accompanying the imagery is the use of a clean and geometrical new font in which the seminary’s name is written:

The start of a new academic year is always an energizing time at CTS, and this year—with its careful return to some in-person gatherings and the implementation of a new look for the seminary—promises to be an especially exciting time of new life.
