Virtual Commencement

CTS will host a virtual commencement ceremony to graduate their 2020 Spring Class. Episcopal priest, author and theologian, Barbara Brown Taylor, will offer the key note address and receive an honorary doctoral degree.

Barbara Brown Taylor. is a New York Times best-selling author, teacher, and Episcopal priest.  Her first memoir, Leaving Church, won an Author of the Year award from the Georgia Writers Association in 2006.  Her latest book, Holy Envy, was one of Library Journal’s Best Religion & Spirituality Books in 2019.  She has taught at Columbia Theological Seminary, Candler School of Theology, and the Certificate in Theological Studies program at Arrendale State Prison for Women in Alt0, Georgia, though her longest and best-loved job was teaching undergraduates at Piedmont College until she put down the chalk in 2017.  She now divides her time between speaking, writing, and caring for the land on which she lives.  Barbara and her husband Ed tend a small farm in the foothills of the Appalachians.
