Director of Lifespan Religious Education (DLRE)
Unitarian Universalist Church of Muncie, Indiana (UUCM)

UUCM seeks a Director of Lifespan Religious Education to begin August 1, 2023.
This will be the first time UUCM has unified responsibility for children, youth, and
adult religious education into the responsibilities of a single staff position. The
search for a DLRE coincides with that for a Developmental Minister.
Responsibilities

● Be on-site for three Sunday services per month
● Offer creative input and participate in worship services, including
occasionally leading the Time for All Ages
● Oversee and organize classroom spaces
● Provide overall leadership to UUCM’s religious education program for
people of all ages
● Provide particular focus on the design and development of a robust Adult
RE program
● Relaunch a campus ministry program
● Mentor and recruit small group leaders, volunteer teachers, caregivers, and
others who support the RE programs
● Maintain oversight of religious education operating budgets
● Oversee UUCM’s small group ministry
● Lead in the development, scheduling, and implementation of curricula
● Purchase materials for Soul Matters curricula
● Purchase and maintain other necessary religious education resources,
equipment, and software
● Supervise paid childcare providers
● Work with the Religious Education Committee to promote and oversee the
religious educational goals of the church
● Track registration and attendance records
● Mediate any issues between volunteers, students, and families
● Conduct backgrounds checks
● Offer regular input and updates to the Board and the minister
● Facilitate New Member classes as needed
● Enforce and adhere to all UUCM Policies and Procedures
● Enforce and adhere to UUCM’s Child and Youth Safety Policies and
Procedures, including annually reviewing the policy with teachers and other
volunteers
● Attend staff meetings, frequency TBD by Minister
● Other duties may be requested by the Minister, who serves as chief of staff
Compensation

The position is for 35 hours per week, with flexible hours (exempt). The base
salary will be $35,500 with potential for greater compensation for UUA RE
credentialing. Compensation will also include insurance and retirement
contributions according to Unitarian Universalist Association guidelines.
