Rev. Tameka Love is a United Church of Christ ordained minister residing in Las Vegas, NV. Tameka and her spouse, Aquarius, are raising a 13, 11, and 3 year old. Tameka also has 4 adult children, making her a mother of 7. In Rev. Love’s pastoral work in Las Vegas, the children’s ministry was a key component and an anticipated highlight in every service. Tameka reflects on her own Baptist church upbringing and remembers the closeness to God she always felt, even as a young child. Her curiosity, continued awareness that something “special” was happening during services, and how she believed that God was speaking to her, too, made going to church meaningful in her life. This reality in her experience has caused Tameka to ensure that children are very much a part of church life. Some of her most recent work finds her 13, 11, and 3 year old a part of each gathering – offering prayer, playing the piano, or just sharing their thoughts and questions. Rev. Love says this is because after-all, God is still speaking…to us all!
