Names can quickly become misnomers. Take for example the term “Nones” which was widely publicized in outlets such as the New York Times and NPR following publication of a Pew Forum study last fall. Amid the media frenzy, a trend toward less affiliation with specific religions became erroneously interpreted as a trend away from religious beliefs.

Christian Theological Seminary President and Professor of Theology Matthew Myer Boulton recently penned Much Ado About ‘Nones” on the Salt and Light blog http://www.thesaltandlightblog.com/. His post was subsequently published by the Huffington Post. In his post, President Boulton makes an impassioned case for critical thinking when it comes to the rise in individuals who don’t claim affiliation with a specific religion.
