Together, we’ll explore the role each of us can play in ensuring every young person is seen, known, supported, and connected to the people and opportunities they need to thrive.

As Christian Theological Seminary celebrates 10 years of the Faith & Action Project, we are looking toward the next decade and the role each of us can play in building a stronger, more connected Indianapolis. 

At our 10th Anniversary Faith & Action Fall Event, Jason Reynolds will explore how belonging, mentorship, and meaningful relationships shape young lives—and how our community can help create pathways to opportunity for the next generation. 

More Than a Conversation 

This event is an invitation to consider the role each of us can play in helping young people thrive. You do not have to work directly with young people to make a difference in their future. Employers, faith communities, neighbors, mentors, volunteers, organizations, and caring adults all have opportunities to help young people feel seen, supported, and connected. 

Following the conversation, join us for a community reception and 10th Anniversary celebration featuring local mentoring and youth-serving organizations. Meet people already investing in young people across Indianapolis and discover opportunities to engage, serve, mentor, and support the next generation.

Join Rev. Charlotte Cramer for a discussion on the value of spiritual care in contexts of poverty and marginalization, particularly within systems of homelessness. 

Together, the session will explore the methods and ethics of spiritual care that support and honor those living in deep poverty, while examining the challenges and complexities of this work. The conversation will reflect on the meaning of presence in spiritual care when outcomes are uncertain or limited and consider how street and community chaplaincy can help transform and reimagine chaplaincy for the modern world.

Rev. Charlotte Cramer 

Rev. Charlotte Cramer is an Interfaith Minister and Community Chaplain based in Portland, Oregon. She holds a Master of Divinity in Chaplaincy from Starr King School for the Ministry and has completed four units of Clinical Pastoral Education through the Shaw Chaplaincy Institute. She is ordained through The Chaplaincy Institute, where she also earned a Certificate in Chaplaincy. 

She is the founder of Temple of the Forgotten, a nonprofit organization dedicated to providing and teaching nonreligious spiritual care for individuals experiencing homelessness, poverty, and marginalization. Her work focuses on spiritual innovation that strengthens individuals, builds community, and seeks to transform systems through practices of nonreligious spirituality.

Together, we’ll share stories, memories, reflections, and a few questions that may be slightly less scholarly than they’re accustomed to answering.

Moments of national crisis often have fostered unity and have led to some memorable leadership examples where thoughtful words and a reassuring presence were on full display. But the U.S. is now experiencing something very different. Occasional attention and episodic civic investment will not nurture well-being, inclusion, and flourishing. It’s time to consider what the character of our shared life will be and how we will give sustained care to the soul of the nation.

Experience a series of captivating “TED Talk” style lectures at CTS Talks. Delivered by distinguished guests who are subject matter experts, these thought-provoking talks provide a platform to gain insight on topics that tie together intellectual curiosity and community reflection.

Rev. Dr. William B. Kincaid

Dr. Bill Kincaid serves as the Herald B. Monroe Professor of Leadership and Ministry Studies at Christian Theological Seminary in Indianapolis. Prior work at CTS includes serving as Director of Field Education, Interim Dean, and Interim President. He also developed and directed First Season Project from 2020-2025, which was a transition-into-ministry initiative that supported recent seminary graduates from around the country in their first three to five years of ministry after seminary. 

Bill is an ordained minister in the Christian Church (Disciples of Christ) with pastoral ministry experience in a variety of settings. Prior to joining CTS in 2008, he served as the Senior Minister of Woodland Christian Church (Disciples of Christ) in Lexington, Kentucky, where he received that city’s Ally for Fairness Award. He was also a founding member and later President of The Interfaith Alliance of the Bluegrass.  

 He is the author of four books, including his most recent work entitled Come Again to the Circle: 40 Leaders Imagine the Church beyond COVID. He has contributed chapters to three edited volumes and published numerous articles and sermons. 

 Bill is married to Rhonda Yost Kincaid. They have two, young adult children, Andrew and Maggie.

We are in the midst of a major mental health crisis. Chaplains, who are often first responders, need basic skills to identify low, moderate, and severe mental illness. Chaplains can play a key role in suicide prevention and intervention during mental health crises. Rev. Angelika A. Zollfrank is a Lutheran Pastor (ELCA), a Board Certified Chaplain (Association for Professional Chaplains), a Certified Educator with the Association for Clinical Pastoral Education, and has 26 years of experience in chaplaincy and 22 years in Clinical Pastoral Education. She completed her chaplaincy training at Memorial Sloan Kettering Cancer Center in New York City, Yale New Haven Hospital in New Haven, Connecticut, and Massachusetts General Hospital in Boston, Massachusetts. Most recently, she published an article on a specialized Mental Health Clinical Pastoral Education program at McLean Hospital.
