Part Time Director of Student Ministries
Lapel Trinity United Methodist Church
The Student Ministry Director is responsible for overseeing and leading youth ministry (Middle School through High School) to ensure consistent, Christ-centered, biblical ministry that guides students in building a healthy, growing and lasting faith in Jesus Christ. The person should be a prayerful, engaging leader.
Youth Director Duties:
•Lead junior and senior high school students into a growing relationship with Jesus Christ by setting a godly example, building relationships, Bible teaching, etc.
•Provide weekly discipleship opportunities for spiritual growth (weekly small & large group gatherings, mentoring, reaching out to students both from the church and community, etc.)
•Plan/schedule special events as needed (summer camps, mission trips, youth conferences, winter retreat, Youth Sunday, etc.)
•Continue to work with adult support team & recruit and train adult leaders to lead small groups for students.
•Create and empower a Youth Leadership Team.
•Communicate with parents through newsletters, announcements, website, etc.
•Attend Sunday morning worship.
•When possible, lead devotions and be present at the weekly Sr. High Breakfasts.
•Be a face of the youth program at TUMC to the students and the community.
•Work with other staff and lay leaders for overall vision/spiritual direction of the church.
•Participate in any staff meetings by providing input for overall growth & direction of the church.
•Meet regularly with Lead Pastor for updating, mentoring, growth & accountability.
•Be active in the overall life of the church and the community.
•Seek a balance between outreach and grounding students in God’s Word.
•Maintain good communication with the parents of the youth.
•Encourage youth to be involved in worship.
•Be of strong morals and personal accountability.
