I am a believer in the power and beauty of the connection between human beings. In this technologic world we live in today, the mere physical presence of another person who cares, can be very therapeutic in and of itself. I strive to make meaningful connections with my clients while holding a safe space just for them.
Because I have probably lived over half of my life, I bring 58 years of life experience to my work which I think is helpful to my clients. I can relate to age-related challenges of my clients close to my age and younger clients often appreciate the “mature” perspective I can offer.
As a Threshold Singer, singing at the bedsides of the dying, I am interested in end of life issues of the dying as well as their loved ones and care givers. Other thresholds of life or life transitions are also of interest to me. The process of transitioning or making significant life changes can be especially difficult. Being present with clients during these times, helping to bring understanding, hope and healing is a very rewarding part of my work.
I work mainly from a psychodynamic, client centered and existential perspective. I find helping clients explore their deeper inner life which could involve the past, as well as addressing their immediate issues and looking forward, is an effective therapeutic approach for most mental health challenges.
Being allowed to walk beside my clients as they traverse the peaks and valleys of their lives is a great honor and privilege that I hold very dear.
