(317) 931-2379 ext. 5210
Rev. Lee B. Ivey III, a native of Indianapolis, IN, and ordained by the Disciples of Christ (Christian Church) denomination through Light of the World Christian Church, measures the meaning of his life by his ability to listen to the Creations of God. Cultured by various terrain, Lee acknowledges God in the rising of the sun, the properties of stones, the concern in a person’s face, and the transference of energy that flows between us.
Rev. Ivey is a graduate of Central State University – Wilberforce, OH with a Bachelor of Science degree in Business Administration, Finance, & Management, and a dual-degree graduate from Christian Theological Seminary – Indianapolis, IN with a Master of Divinity degree and Master of Arts in Clinical Mental Health Counseling. He is an active member of the American Counseling Association, Association for Spiritual, Ethical, and Religious Values, and the Association for Multicultural Counseling and Development. He also serves as the Legislative Chair for the Indiana Counseling Association.
As a Black male in america, Lee has spent much time attempting to bridge gaps across cultural differences where uniqueness is normalized and appreciated. He was a portion of the creation of the grassroots organization D.O.N.T.S.L.E.E.P. (Deconstructing Oppression Now Through Solidary, Liberation, Equity, Empowerment, and Perseverance). God designed Rev. Ivey, specifically, to make the theology of love and the mental/emotional make-up of liberation not just possible but realized. This kind of work begins at home with his 10-year-old daughter whose mind he is most responsible for and yet whose questions challenge his response – ability the most.
Rev. Ivey is blessed to utilize his gifts and implement his calling as the Servant Leader of the New Members Ministry at Light of the World Christian Church and as a therapist for individuals, families, couples, and groups at The Counseling Center at CTS, The Martin Luther King Community Center, and at Family and Community Partners, LLC. No matter the setting, Ivey continues to discern each interaction with a person an opportunity to hear the beautiful complexities of the wisdom of God and manifest presence in a way that makes God’s creation feel seen and heard.
