Certification Programs

CTS recognizes the importance of a credential that means something—that demonstrates that a student has completed a rigorous course of study offered by a recognized institution. As a Certification Student at CTS, you tailor your learning to suit your interests and ministry goals. Students work with CTS faculty and staff to define a concentration and, upon completion, receive a CTS Certification diploma recognizing the achievement.

To earn a Certification, you will need to successfully complete six courses (18 credit hours), including two Gateway courses, which are foundational courses for our ministry degree programs, and four electives within your area of concentration. Certification students also pay half-price tuition and must be approved to participate by the Dean of Faculty. Start the process by contacting the CTS Admissions Office. You will register through the CTS Registrar.

Some areas of concentration include:

Biblical Studies Pastoral Care
Christian Education Transformational Leadership
Marriage & Family Relationships Spirituality & Psychotherapy*
Mental Health Counseling Yoga & Spirituality

* Requires a master’s degree from an accredited counseling program

Applicants to the Certification program must hold a baccalaureate or its educational equivalent from a college or university accredited by a regional accrediting association. (The seminary may admit certain students who do not possess a baccalaureate degree.)

In many cases, credit earned for Certification coursework may be applied toward a degree program if you decide to continue your studies beyond the Certification level. To do so, you will need to apply and be admitted through CTS’ standard degree program admissions process.
