She holds a B.A. in Political Science and a Latin American Studies certificate from the University of South Florida, an M.A. in Latin American Studies, and a Ph.D. in Political Science from the University of Arizona. Her research specializes in comparative politics, with a focus on human rights at the U.S.-Mexico border.\nShe co-authored Fronteras No Más and edited several works, including Dígame! Policy and Politics on the Texas Borderand Juntos Pero No Revueltos. She was awarded a Fulbright to Germany in 2002 and a Border Fulbright to Universidad Autónoma de Ciudad Juárez in 2004.\nDr. Coronado has also served as President of the Association for Borderland Studies and has been involved with various advisory committees, including those for the U.S. EPA and the National Advisory Council for Policy and Technology.\nIn 2010, President Obama appointed her to the Joint Public Advisory Committee of the Commission for Environmental Cooperation. She also served as Executive Director of the Commission from 2012 to 2016. Her current research focuses on the impact of deportation on families, environmental cooperation, and U.S.-Mexico border politics.\n
