Community Worship at CTS is shared by faculty, students, staff, and off-campus guests serving as preachers, musicians, and liturgists. Chapel services are designed to nurture the faith and life of the CTS community and to provide a place for practice and growth in worship leadership.
The CTS community is composed of a diversity of people with many differing worship styles and traditions. Some among us will worship in silence; some are used to call and response; some make frequent verbal expressions of appreciation to God during worship. All are appropriate and welcome here. This diversity enriches us and invites us to sense God's greatness in new ways.
All services are open. Visitors are always welcome. View our schedule of upcoming worship services
Word and Table
Held on Tuesdays at 1:00 p.m. This service of Word, prayer, and Table (Holy Communion) is the fullest gathering of the CTS community at worship each week. The various CTS musical groups--Cantors, Gospel Choir, and Handbells--provide musical leadership during these services. Unfermented wine is used at this service.

Episcopalian Service of Eucharist
Eucharist is celebrated on Thursdays at 9:30 AM. This service follows The Book of Common Prayer (1990) and other liturgical materials of the Episcopal Church in the USA. This service, hosted by CTS, is prepared by our Episcopal students under the guidance of the Bishop of the Diocese of Indianapolis. The bishop and area priests preach and preside. This service uses fermented wine.
Special Worship Events
The CTS community also gathers for worship on a variety of special occasions prompted by conferences, convocations, and continuing education events. A special service of Advent Lessons and Carols is scheduled each December. A service of Blessing of the Animals is held in early October near the fest day of St. Francis of Assisi. Check the worship calendar for more details.
The CTS Choirs
CTS has two primary choirs that serve the community by sharing in worship leadership and occasional concert programs: Cantors and the Gospel Choir. These choirs sing in the Tuesday chapel service on a rotating basis throughout the school year. For rehearsal schedules, contact the choir director below.
Chapel Leadership
The Director of the Chapel is appointed by the President and charged with supervision of activities in Sweeney Chapel. The Director enlists leaders, develops services, and assists in planning. He is assisted by the seminary organist, the Gospel Choir director, Cantors director and chapel assistant. Guidelines for community worship at CTS are established by a committee of faculty, music and chapel staff, and students. This worship committee advises the Director of the Chapel. If you would like to be included among the worship leaders or musicians, please speak to Tércio B. Junker, Director of the Chapel.
