CTS SCHOLARSHIP & GRANT QUESTIONS
5) What is the difference between scholarships and grants?
Both scholarships and grants are funds that do not require repayment. Scholarships are awarded based on merit while grants are awarded based on financial need.
6) What charges can be paid by my CTS Scholarship?
CTS scholarships pay CTS tuition charges. They do not pay for fees (technology fee, student association fees, counseling practicum fees, CPE hospital fees, etc.). Scholarship stipends may be used to pay fee charges.
Tuition for coursework required by external bodies, including denominational formation programs is not covered by CTS scholarships when that coursework is taken at other institutions.
7) When will scholarships and grants be disbursed?
Scholarships and grants will be applied to your Business Office account on the first day of the semester. Scholarship stipend refunds will be available after the first week of class. Refunds are disbursed via check and will be mailed to your home address. You may send a written request (e-mal) to the Business Office requesting that your check be placed in your student mailbox.
8) How much should I borrow?
The amount of loan funds listed on you Award Notification is the maximum amount which you may borrow. It is recommended that you borrow as little as possible as all graduate loans are unsubsidized and you are responsible for all interest that accrues on the loan while you are attending CTS and during deferment and forbearance periods as well during repayment periods.
9) When will my loan disburse?
Loans for the academic year (both fall and spring semesters) will be disbursed to CTS as follows:
½ Fall Semester on the Friday after the end of the 100% drop/add period (first week of classes) and ½ Spring Semester on the Friday after the end of the 100% drop/add period (first week of classes). Your disbursements will be credited to your Business Office account and used to pay any unpaid tuition and fee charges each semester.
If there are remaining funds after these charges have been deducted, you will receive a cash balance refund check from the Business Office. Federal regulations give the business office 14 days from disbursement to return these funds to you. The CTS Business Office strives to get these funds to you as soon as possible.
Refunds are disbursed via check and will be mailed to your home address. You may send a written request (e-mal) to the Business Office requesting that your check be placed in your student mailbox.
