, to make an appointment for an interview with Field Education Staff. You may schedule your interview when all of your paperwork has been submitted to the Field Education Office.
3. ___ Review “Site Profiles” of approved SCOFE sites. These profiles can be found in the SCOFE Opportunities notebook located in the field education office. Select up to three sites to which you would like your resume submitted for consideration. Sites not recommended: a site that has been your home church for more than 3 years, a site in which your spouse is on the staff, and a site without an ongoing worshipping Christian community.
- The majority of sites are churches that have approached CTS regarding their need for additional staff or a student pastor. The Field Education Staff assesses viability as a SCOFE site.
- A few denominations find placements for their students. The Field Education Staff discusses with such sites the requirements of SCOFE.
- You may already be serving a church and would like to continue. Before such a site can be approved the Field Education Staff will discuss our re-quirements with the site.
- You may be interested in a particular congregation or a particular style of ministry not listed as an approved SCOFE site. Discussion with the Field Education Staff is encouraged before the student engages in any serious conversation with the potential site. We may be able to work together to "create" a placement.
4. ___ If you are interested in an approved site from the “SCOFE Opportunities” notebook, list the selected sites on the “SCOFE Placement Request” form (found in the pocket of the opportunities notebook). Sign and date the form. Turn the completed form into the Field Education Office. We will mail your papers to the sites you have listed.
5. ___ Respond to any inquiries you receive from chosen sites. Set up interviews as requested. Negotiate with congregational leadership. If you are negotiating with more than one site, tell each site where you are in the process. Keep the Field Education Staff informed of your progress and let us know when you have secured a SCOFE position.
