Borrowing CRC Materials

Any holder of a valid CTS Library card or Congregational Resource Center card may borrow materials from both collections. You need not be a member of the CTS community or a sponsoring denomination to use the collections.  CTS Library cards and CRC cards are available to religious educators and clergy. Students and faculty members from ALI and PALNI-affiliated institutions exercise borrowing privileges with their own library or ID cards.  Application for a Library or CRC card must be made in person at the CTS Library Circulation counter.

Using visual media in congregations: legal issues

If you are using visual media, video clips, DVD’s, etc  in classrooms, religious education classes, worship or meetings you may be violating the U.S. Copyright Act of 1976. Some materials prepared for use in religious institutions, such as those produced by Ecufilm, carry public performance rights (PPR) and may be used without concern. Not all VHS and DVD producers, retailers and distributors provide PPR. Even if you do not charge for events you will need written permission for screening these materials; without permission you are liable to substantial penalties. If you use visual media frequently an alternative to seeking permission for every screening is an annual license, the fee for which is based on the size of your worshiping congregation ($150-$200).
