Recruiting & Admissions Counselor

Reports To: Director of Recruiting 
FLSA Status: Exempt                         
Payroll Status: Salaried, Half-Time

Job Summary:
Serves as a Recruiting & Admissions Counselor for the seminary, serving within the Office of Networking, Recruitment & Admissions (NR&A).  This position is extremely results driven and involves the design and execution of activities both inside and outside the seminary to cultivate and enlarge the pool of prospective students.

Education and Experience:
Must have an advanced degree, Masters of Divinity preferred. Experience in Higher Education in the areas of admissions or student affairs is also preferred. The Admissions Counselor must have exceptional interpersonal and communication skills with a proven track record of working with diverse constituencies. The ability to manage multiple tasks under pressure of deadline, the ability to maintain confidentiality, work independently and prioritize work is paramount. Strong competency in social media, computer and software skills including word-processing, database and spreadsheet applications is a necessity.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Work collaboratively with the Director of Recruiting and the NR&A team to develop and execute strategic plans designed to meet the seminary’s new student recruiting goals.
  • Work with the NR&A team to meet the seminary’s recruiting goals.
  • Meet with prospective students, conduct applicant interviews, and follow up with prospective students to build relationships conducive to favorable decisions for matriculation.
  • Follow NR&A team recruiting best practices and protocols for responding to email, phone, and other prospective student and applicant inquiries.
  • Travel according to approved strategic recruiting plan to colleges, events and churches.
  • Support NR&A team efforts to develop and maintain clear website, print, social media and other communications for recruiting.
  • Assist with efforts to develop vocational discernment opportunities as a recruiting tool.

Work Schedule and Travel:

This is a part-time position with daily hours set in conjunction with the Director of Recruiting and the Vice President of Networking, Recruitment & Admissions, when not traveling. Must have the ability to work non-traditional hours including nights and weekends, as well as be able to travel regularly, particularly during peak recruitment season. The position requires a valid Driver’s License and the ability to drive short distances.

Other Duties and Responsibilities:
Serve as a fully participating member of the NR&A team and serve as back-up for other positions when NR&A staff is unavailable due to travel and time off.
