Chapel Director

REPORTS TO:  VP of Academic Affairs

CLASSIFICATION: Part-Time Hourly Non-Exempt (approx. 8-10 hours/week mid-August to mid-May)                          

Essential Job Responsibilities:

The Chapel Director is responsible for leading a worship design team and managing student chapel assistants to plan and implement weekly, periodic, and special worship experiences at CTS in accordance with the CTS’ mission, vision and values. The Director may also be asked to work with seminary leadership to develop other worship and art initiatives and programming.


Essential Job Responsibilities:

  • Oversee chapel worship planning and production
  • Work with faculty, staff and student groups to develop chapel preaching schedule
  • Manage chapel budget and copyright compliance
  • Direct weekly, periodic, and other special worship experiences at CTS
  • Work with the Director of Facilities to maintain the organ, chapel piano and chapel sound equipment
  • Supervise and train Chapel Assistants and other paid staff and volunteers
  • Cultivate and train new staff and volunteers
  • Ensure continued development of chapel in accordance with the CTS mission, vision and values
  • Work with seminary leadership to develop worship and arts initiatives and programs for CTS as requested

Qualifications:
  • Bachelor degree required, master-level degree in ministry preferred
  • Minimum of two years of relevant experience
  • Strong organizational and relational skills
  • Advanced computer skills (including a working knowledge of Excel, Word, PowerPoint and Online Planning Software)
  • Excellent judgment and decision-making abilities
  • Effective written and oral communication skills
  • Ability and desire to work collaboratively with CTS faculty, staff, students, and guests
  • Strong understanding of worship practices and music from a variety of traditions
  • Capacity to manage and work with students to meet weekly deadlines
  • Solid knowledge of fund accounting preferred
